In her later years she spent several nights a week playing bingo, one of her favorite pasttimes.

     Note:   Death certificate says buried Nov. 23.

Individual Note:
     I have a copy of Charles' Baptism certificate from St. Nicholas. He was baptized Charles Andrew Mehm on 30 April, 1882. Sponsors were Maria Mehm and Andrew Greashauer (Grieshaber).
Served in the Army, 109th Field Artillery. (1907-1908-1909?).

In 1900 he was living at home (235 Park Ave.). Occupation listed as Machinist.
According to the 1910 Census, Charles was living at home at that time, his age listed as 28. Occupation listed as Machinist in JU Shop.
A life long resident of Wilkes-Barre, Charles was living at 235 Park Ave before his house was built at 337 Park Ave.

The new home at 337 Park Avenue was built by Charles for him and his future bride. The home was started in 1910 and completed in 1911 (per Aunt Mary).

Witnesses: Fred Grieshaber & Grace Kline. 6 kids born at home: 337 Park Ave.

I found a copy of Charles' World War I draft registration card on Ancestry.com's website.
He registered on September 12, 1918, at the age of 36. All males between the ages of 18 and 45 were required to register at that time. He was living at 337 Park Ave. at that time, and employed by Vulcan Iron Works as a machinist.

1930 Census lists Charles living at 337 Park Ave. with wife and 5 children. Age 48, occup. Machinist with Iron Works.

Charles Mehm Dies On His Way to Church
Park Avenue Man Played Cornet in Wyoming Valley for Many Years
Charles A. Mehm, 67, of 337 Park Avenue, died yesterday morning of a heart attack as he was leaving his home to attend mass at St. Nicholas Church. Mr. Mehm, a widely known musican, was driving his automobile out of the driveway when he suddenly collapsed behind the wheel.
Dr. James McMahon, who had been treating the victim for several weeks, was summoned and pronounced Mr. Mehm dead after a heart arttack.
Mr. Mehm, who played a cornet, was well known in music circles. He played with a number of musical organizations during his life. He played in Pokorny's Band, Oppenheim's Orchestra and Johnny Ney's German Band.
A lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre, he was employed as a machinist at Vulcan Iron Works 45 years.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, it's Holy Name Society and Musician's Union Local 140.
Surviving are these children: Harold and Charles Jr., Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Albert Dowey, Middletown; Mrs. Waler Zamites, Hyannis, Mass.; Mrs. Louis Pahler, at home; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Lisman and Mrs. Carl E. Weiss, both of Wilkes-Barre; brother, Edward, Freehold, N.J.
Funeral will be held from the funeral home, 233 South Washington Street, Wednesday at 9 with solemn high mass of requiem at 9:30 in St. Nicholas Church, Interment in parrish cemetery, Shavertown.
Friends may call tonight 7 to 10 and Tuesday 2 to 5 and 7 to 10.
Holy Name Society will recite the rosary tomorrow night at 8.
