Individual Note:
     1900 Census lists year of Immigration to the U.S. as 1880. Also listed as a Naturalized citizen. His occupation in 1900 was laborer in coal mines. 3 months unemployed at time of census (June 1900). 1900 Census looks like he was born Dec 1855. Can't read the age but it looks like 34.
1900 Census states he and his family lived at 263 Carey Avenue.

1910 Census lists Christopher's age as 58. (This would make him born around 1852). Occupation listed as House Painter in 1910 Census. This Census indicates Christopher and his family lived at 263 Carey Avenue, which he owned at that time.

The 1895 Wilkes-Barre Directory records Christian Klinges, painter, living at 171 Carey Avenue.
The 1896 Wilkes-Barre Directory records Christian Klinges, painter, living at 197 Carey Avenue. Also, in the same house, Flora (grocer), Lizzie(silkworker), Rose(lacer).
The 1897 Wilkes-Barre Directory records Christian, painter and Christian
Jr., laborer, living at 171 Carey Avenue.

In the 1900 Census, Christian had been married for 19 years, and was working as a laborer in the mines.
According to the 1900 census, they have 10 living children, 3 other children died in the preceding years.
According to the 1900 census, a woman named Teresa lived with Christian and
Gertrude. She was listed as a mother (either of Christian or Gertrude), and was born in Germany March 1817. She immigrated to the United States in the year 1883. Age last birthday, 83 years old.

Christain was born in Germany.
His brothers Henry, Sebastian and David were born in Germany but immigrated to the United States.

Birth Note:    Tombstone says born 1857.

Individual Note:
     1900 Census indicates Gertrude was the mother of 13 children at that time, 10 still living. Can't read her age in this Census but it looks like 35.
1910 Census indicates she is the mother of 16 children at that time, 12 still living. Her age was listed as 46 in this Census.

Birth Note:    Tombstone says born 1863.

     Following info provided by Francis T. Klinges:
    Christian immigrated to the U.S.A. in the year 1887.
He died on March 20, 1899.
His obituary was listed in the Wilkes-Barre Record, Wednesday, March 22, 1899 as follows:
    " Christian Klinges died on Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock at his home, 262 Carey Avenue, aged 77 years.
       Deceased was born in Bavaria and came to this country twelve years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Endler, and four sons-Henry, David, Christian and Sebastian.
       The funeral will take place at 2 p. m. on Wednesday in St. Nicholas Church, with internment in the German Catholic Cemetery ".
