The following notes provided by Neil Gallagher:

1914 - 1986:

After leaving school Willie started training to be a joiner. He did not complete his training and took a job as a insurance agent.

After that worked in Scotland on the farms with his father-in-law Neil Sweeney.

Willie and his wife Mary Sweeney lived with Mary's father in Loughanure in the early days of their marriage. After the birth of their first child Madge, Willie and Mary moved to the Nurse's Cottage in Bunbeg, which is on the road down to Bunbeg Harbour. They stayed there for about two years during which time Willie was employed by Patrick Gallagher, no relation, as a ship builder. He returned to live in the old Sweeney house in Loughanure before the birth of their second child, Neil, in July 1940. By then Mary's father had moved into the "new" Sweeney family home. Willie was then employed in Insurance.

Up until Willie and his family emigrated to England in August 1947, he would travel to either Scotland or England and spend the spring and summer months earning money to send home to Mary in Ireland. It was always a sad time when Willie had to pack his bags when leaving home.

Their son Joseph was born in 1943 in Loughanure.

Willie could see no future in leaving his family behind in Ireland while he worked abroad, so in the summer of 1947 he and Mary decided to leave their home in Ireland and emigrate with their family to England to a place called Higher Ferry, Saltney, Nr. Chester. He was employed as a dairy farmer on the Bee's Nursery. This post entitled him and his family to a tied cottage.

Madge and Neil went to school in Saltney, near Chester.

Their son Patrick was born in 1948 in Queensferry, North Wales.

That same year, Mary's brother Con Sweeney came and lived with the family. He stayed with them for many years.

1951
Moved with his family to another farm in Aston, Nr Preston Brook, Nr. Frodsham, England where he worked for a farmer named Brian Shepherd.

1953
Moved to Stoak Nr Chester and worked for a farmer named Dick Kinsey.
This was probably the place he liked most during his life in England. The cottage had a large garden, orchard and he and his family were practically self sufficient.

1955
Their son Michael Cornelius was born in Chester, England.

About 1957
He left the cottage in Stoak. From there he moved to Elton Nr Chester and worked for Shell Refining Co. as a fitters mate.

1959
Moved back to Bunbury Close, Stoak and got employment at Bowater’s paper mill in Ellesmere Port.

1964
Moved to Norley Avenue, Ellesmere port, Where he retired at the age of 63 from Bowater’s due to ill health ( emphysema proceeded by several bouts of bronchitis).

1975
Mary died in Norley Avenue, Ellesmere Port, at the age of 54 from a heart attack.

1986
Willie died in Norley Avenue, Ellesmere Port, at the age of 71 from a stroke.

He and Mary are buried in Overpool Cemetery, Ellesmere Port, UK.
